Bedroom Still Life

Log 1 (03/02/2022) -

I did a previous still life of my bedroom - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/QzdQDr

I really enjoyed this project and about a year ago I decided to model my entire bedroom to exact scale and in high detail. I started the modelling and completed the walls, skirting board, bed and desk. But I didn't finish it because I started up at college again and didn't have the time to do any more work on it. Recently I decided to give it another go, even though I still have college work; I'm just deciding to take up more of my free time with this since it's fun anyway.

Since starting it up again about a week ago I have added all of the posters and the items on the desk, I have modelled part of the PC and I have even started the texturing, as you can see here -

I have textured all of the main parts of the room except the walls. I have also started adding small details like the mug texturing and the amazon Alexa -

I found images on the internet and took them into Krita so I could cut out the parts I needed and make the rest transparent so then I can mix them together in Blender using a MixRGB node. I'm going to be doing this for my cupboard since I have a lot of stickers on there. The coasters are my own coasters that I took a photo of and cut out in Krita -

I have used this technique for most of the textures of the posters and things. Luckily my phone camera is pretty good and it can shoot in raw so it's fairly easy to get nice looking textures with it. Obviously it isn't ideal but it's the best I can do for now and it gives some nice results inside Blender.

I still have some modelling to complete but I don't model in Blender I only texture and render inside Blender. I model in Maya and I still have some to complete. The PC is about halfway complete -

I need to model the GPU, the cables and the fans. But other than that I would say it is nearly done. Once this is in the scene I think the scene will feel a lot less empty and then I can also add a bit of different lighting to the scene.

Log 2 (04/02/2022) -

Last night I added a lot of the smaller details like the monitor screen, the logos on the monitors and the stickers on my door. I haven't placed the ROG stickers in the right place yet but I put them on there ready -

I still need to add the little bezel on the monitor on the right but other than that the monitors are complete.

It took a long time to line up each sticker and logos. The node tree is humongous.

Log 3 (06/02/2022) -

I completed the walls, adding the paint texture on the grey walls and adding the grey brick texture on the other wall. Luckily the actual wallpaper in my room is a repeating texture so I don't need to worry about that. I also managed to find the exact image of my wall and I lined it up exactly -

The grey paint texture on the other walls is a much smaller detail and you can't really see it so I got a closer render -

I also made the bed sheets using cloth simulations in Blender, I really enjoyed this and I think the bad looks pretty realistic -

I haven't got around to adding the fabric textures yet but I have coloured them and added my blanket to the top. To get the blanket I had to find the texture and I used a image upscaler. However, I'm thinking it might play around with the texture a little more because it looks a bit off.

This is the first time I've edited this project for about a year. I'm not going to fully start up this project again but I think it's just going to be a project I work on throughout my career because it's probably going to take me a while to complete. I have so much more to do. Anyway, you can expect updates every now and then but not often and probably not huge changes.
